The only limit is our imagination

Step into a realm where the boundaries between art and reality dissolve. Immerse yourself in a mesmerizing symphony of light and sound, where every surface pulsates with vibrant colors, transforming the ordinary into an extraordinary spectacle. Feel the energy of 3D sound waves washing over you, perfectly choreographed with the dazzling visual tapestry that surrounds you. This is an experience that transcends the limits of perception, inviting you to explore a world where imagination takes form and the senses are ignited.

The DSLI Experience

Located in Palm Springs, California. The Desert Sound and Light Institute (DSLI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that will feature a dynamic rotation of immersive sonic and visual exhibitions. Rather than permanent installations, the space will be a blank canvas where the infrastructure will allow us to showcase a diverse range of content, with new experiences cycled in regularly. This flexible approach allows us to:

  • Present a wider variety of artistic expressions.
  • Keep the experience fresh and engaging for returning visitors.
  • Easily showcase both pre-recorded and live performances.

DSLI will be open to the public initially on weekends and expanded to daily depending on demand, offering two distinct experiences:

Evening Immersive Performances:

Initially Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings will feature ticketed immersive performances, showcasing the work of various artists. These 60-90 minute shows will start at 7pm and 9pm, with tickets priced between $25-$35.

Daytime “Infinite Exhibition”:

During the day on Saturdays and Sundays, DSLI will transform into a free-flowing, immersive experience similar to teamLab in Japan, or akin to a temporary Van Gogh Immersive Experience that you might find at a museum. Visitors can explore the space at their own pace, enveloped in a continuous loop of captivating visuals and 3D audio.

This dual approach allows us to cater to both dedicated audiences seeking curated performances and casual visitors looking for a unique and inspiring experience.

DSLI is conceived as a platform for sonic and visual artists of all levels to explore the creative potential of immersive technologies.

We provide the tools and support necessary for artists to craft groundbreaking experiences in sound and light, pushing the boundaries of their imagination.

DSLI will be the canvas upon which these visions come to life, offering a portal into breathtaking new worlds where the only limit is creativity itself.

Our space invites you to step beyond the confines of the ordinary and into a world where art comes alive.

DSLI will be more than just an exhibition space. It will function as a vibrant community hub

  • Immersive Exhibitions: Showcasing the work of established and emerging artists, featuring both pre-recorded and live performances.
  • Artist Residencies: Providing artists with the tools, resources, and mentorship to create groundbreaking work in immersive media, culminating in public showcases.
  • Educational Programs: Workshops and classes for students and the general public, exploring spatial audio production, projection mapping techniques, and interactive art creation.
  • Community Events: Hosting a variety of events, from concerts and performances to workshops and artist talks, fostering a deeper connection between art, technology, and the community.
  • Monthly Dance Party: Free for members and their guests

Our long-term goal is to establish artist residencies that provide both education and exhibition opportunities.

Selected artists will be immersed in creating and showcasing their work within our space, using E4L (Envelop for Live) to develop their music and our video projection mapping software with the support of our team.

Each residency will be a three-month program, with one artist chosen per quarter. The residency structure will be flexible and cater to the individual needs of each artist, including bi-weekly check-ins (both remote and in-person). The program will culminate in a special listening event featuring the original music and visuals created by the resident artist.
